About Us

While it may seem the staff at Parkway is in a constant state of change, there are several that have been here for many years. We are always encouraging our staff to grow in both their personal and professional lives. While that has meant that some have left us for their growth, new people have joined us to add to our distinctiviness. Please take the time to read these quick summaries about the staff and come on in to meet everyone!

Melissa - I am the main surgery person. When your kids come in for surgery, they will be in my capable hands. I have been here for 11 years and in the veterinary field for over 18 years. I attended veterinary assistant school in St Pete.I have a wonderful son who keeps me very busy! I have many Yorkies at home, and love everything Yorkie. I have several cats as well.

tabithaTabitha - I have been at Parkway for 8 months now and I come here with 3 years experience as a veterinary technician. I love behavior and training, so come talk to me about your dogs. I have 2 dogs of my own, Rory and Sid, both of whom are rescue dogs. If you come in and hear crazy laughter, it's a good bet I have done something to make everyone laugh!

melanieMelanie - I have been a vet tech for 4 years. I am not sure I have an area of special interest yet, because I like it all so much! I am a full time student at UNF as well as full time here, so I keep busy. In my free time, I am something of a herpatologist. I have MANY different types of reptiles: from snakes to lizards to turtles. I also have many dogs, cats and horses. I have been around animals my entire life!

ashlighAshleigh - I have been a veterinary receptionist for over 3 years. I have a Bachelors in anthropology and a minor in psychology from UNF. I share my home with my husband, a cat, and two house rabbits (and everyone is litter trained)! I used to be a student park ranger at Fort Caroline National Memorial and am looking forward to going to graduate school later next year for a masters in Florida Studies. I am an avid Florida adventurer, and never turn down a chance to go hiking, canoeing, swimming, or road tripping all over the state. If you want to learn more about Florida history, or hear a really bad joke, I am your gal!

Julie I have been a veterinary nurse for 24 years. I am also a human nurse at Mayo Clinic in the ICU. At Parkway, I can been seen doing a little bit of everything from management, to nursing care to working on the roof! During my many years in veterinary medicine, I have done everything from feline only, to emergency to speciality practice. I was one of the first in the country to become a Certified Veterinary Dental Technician. Since I am both at Mayo and at Parkway, you may not get to see me as much as I would like to. Feel free to ask me any questions you have regarding your pet's health, or even your own! I do not have a picture - because I think this one shows my best side!

Polly - You could say I am new to veterinary medicine because this is my first job ever but I have now been here 2 years! I have grown up in vet med, as well as in Parkway. Dr. VanCleve is my mom and Dr Weldon is my dad. I know I want to be a vet when I grow up, just like my parents. As you can imagine, I have MANY pets at home and have worked with just about every type of animal from dog to cat to even helping my dad when he works with the animals at the Jacksonville Zoo!
