Holistic Health For Animals

Animals are a very important part of life. If you are open to it, they can teach you many lessons. My job (if you could call it work...) is to help them live an optimal life by working on their bodies with spinal adjustments and soft tissue techniques. I want to give them as much happiness as they give me by keeping them healthy.

When animals are in a stressful situation, their pupils get really big, they become very still and attentive, and they get into a flight posture. Not so much the excitement when they are going to go outside or for a walk, but the "danger is here, lower the center of my gravity for quick escape" posture. This is considered sympathetic stress, or more commonly, the "flight-or-fight" mode. Now, for animals, if they are being preyed upon or are in some kind of danger, this mode is appropriate. However, it is not a stress that should be present at all times because of the chemical changes that occur with sympathetic stress. The danger with sympathetic stress is that you can't see it. Of equal importance is the parasympathetic system which is commonly known as the "rest and digest" mode. If an animal, or human, gets stuck in sympathetic stress for any reason, the chemical input from the adrenals, heart, lungs, muscles, etc. overwhelms their body and the functioning of these vital organs and muscles becomes compromised. Miscommunication among the cells of the body and the nervous system create toxins which accumulate creating pain and dysfunction.

Why do we treat the asymptomatic pet: "Mechanical faults are, in and of themselves, harmful to the patient's neurological function." J. Cyriax, Illustrated Textbook of Orthopedic Medicine, vol. II...Since animals are somewhat stoic when in pain, and since they don't talk to us with words, it's hard to tell if they have had some kind of injury, trauma, or accident. Their bodies may have been compromised for years and we are not aware of the problem. A big indicator of dysfunction is an shift in the animal's weight, either up or down, due to the dysfunction of digestion (parasympathetic system).

As an VOM Chiropractor, I adjust the animals spine and body with a very gentle, frequency-specific instrument. Because there are limitations to matter, this small amount of input helps their bodies break the sympathetic stress patterns that create dysfunction. When the spine is aligned, or without interference, the body can communicate perfectly and the pattern is changed. (For more chronic problems, it takes longer for the pattern to change because we are all creatures of habit and it's hard to break habits.) Because the fascial and musculoskeletal systems are such a large part of the body, I address these systems not only with the adjustment, but more specifically with another instrument. Both of these instruments are pleasant and they are quiet so the animals are not startled by the sound.
Manuals are available for purchase. Introductory price is only $25 per manual. Email me for order placement at sibchiro@yahoo.com. The manuals present a very simplified approach to using the percussor with animals. These manuals are meant to be an introductory reference and one should attend a seminar in order to properly learn how to utilize a percussor. Percussors can be purchased through Impac, Inc www.impacinc.net. Thank you for your interest.
